Sokuji ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our browser extension, desktop application, and web services.

Our Privacy Guarantee

We NEVER collect, store, or transmit:

  • Audio recordings or voice content
  • Translation text or conversation content
  • Your physical location or precise IP addresses
  • Any sensitive personal information beyond your account email

Account Information

When you create an account on our web application, we collect the following information:

  • Email Address: Used for account registration, login, and password recovery. This is the only personal identifier we collect.
  • Hashed Password: Your password is securely encrypted using industry-standard bcrypt hashing. We never store or have access to your plain-text password.
  • Account Creation Date: Recorded for account management purposes.
  • Session Tokens: Temporary tokens used to keep you logged in securely.

Information That Stays on Your Device

The following data is stored exclusively on your device. We never collect, access, or transmit this information to our servers:

  • API Keys: Your OpenAI, Gemini, or other provider API keys are stored only in your browser's local storage. We have no access to them.
  • Audio Content: All audio is processed in real-time and is never recorded, stored, or sent to our servers.
  • Configuration Settings: Your language, voice, and other preferences are saved locally on your device.

Information We Collect

Analytics Data (Optional)

With your explicit consent, we collect anonymous usage analytics:

  • App Usage Patterns: Which features you use and how often
  • Performance Metrics: App startup time, translation latency, error rates
  • Device Information: Operating system, device type (anonymized)
  • Language Preferences: Source and target language selections

You can opt-out of analytics at any time through the app settings.

Analytics and Tracking

PostHog Analytics

We use PostHog, a privacy-focused analytics platform, to understand how users interact with Sokuji.

Data Storage and Security

Local Storage

Extension and app settings are stored locally on your device using secure browser mechanisms.

Server Storage

Account data is stored securely on Cloudflare D1, a distributed SQLite database running on Cloudflare's global edge network. Your data benefits from:

  • Edge-based Storage: Data is stored close to you for faster access
  • Encryption at Rest: All stored data is encrypted
  • Secure Infrastructure: Cloudflare's enterprise-grade security measures
  • Data Isolation: Your account data is logically separated from other users

Data Transmission

Audio data is transmitted directly to AI provider servers. All transmission occurs over secure HTTPS connections.

Third-Party Services

Cloudflare

We use Cloudflare for web hosting, content delivery, and database services (Cloudflare D1). Your account data is processed and stored according to Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.

OpenAI

Audio data is sent to OpenAI servers for processing, governed by OpenAI's Privacy Policy.

Soniox

When you use Soniox, with your own API key or through a Kizuna AI account, audio is sent to Soniox servers in the region you pick (United States, European Union or Japan) and processed under Soniox's Privacy Policy.

Alibaba Cloud (Qwen)

When you use Qwen LiveTranslate, with your own API key or through a Kizuna AI account, audio and, when screen context is on, pictures of the one window, tab or screen you chose are sent to Alibaba Cloud's Qwen service in the region in use — QwenCloud (international, Singapore) or 千问云 (mainland China) for your own key, Singapore or Beijing for a Kizuna AI account — and processed under that storefront's privacy policy.

PostHog Analytics (Optional)

If you consent to analytics, anonymous usage data is sent to PostHog.

Account Deletion

You have the right to delete your account at any time. To request account deletion:

  • Contact us at privacy@kizuna.ai with your account email
  • Or use the account deletion feature in your dashboard settings (if available)
  • Your account and all associated data will be permanently deleted
  • This action cannot be undone and processing may take up to 30 days

Data Retention

Configuration data is retained locally until you uninstall. Account data is retained until you request deletion. Audio is processed in real-time and not stored.

  • Opt-out of analytics tracking
  • Request deletion of analytics data
  • Be informed of how your data is used
  • Withdraw consent without affecting core functionality

GDPR Compliance

For EU users, we ensure full GDPR compliance including lawful basis, data minimization, right to erasure, and transparent processing.

Children's Privacy

Our extension is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

We may update this policy. We will notify you by posting updates and showing in-app notifications for significant changes.
